Our Mission

CryptoHarlem was founded in 2013, and is committed to the education, protection, and advancement of black folks. We work in solidarity with all marginalized people to find ways that technology can be used to empower instead of oppress. We host a weekly livestream open to all people. We currently do that through advocacy and research efforts to highlight where technology is happening to people, instead of technology working for them. We offer training and professional development to create greater representation of African Americans in the cybersecurity industry. Proving that the “pipeline problem” can be solved with focus & resources is part of our mission. We also offer educational resources that demystify hacking, digital hygiene & privacy for organizers & activists. We also provide cybersecurity services to not-for-profits in need.

In 2018, VICE Motherboard created a profile on CryptoHarlem for Black History Month.
